Design of a wind turbine

M.Sc - NTNU

3–6 Months

Masters of Science Programes

Course Overview

The course cover the basics on wind turbine technology and calculation of energy potential in wind. The course is built such that the students work in groups to design a wind turbine model, consisting of both blades (Aerodynamics) and a generator (Electrotechnical). In addition to the design, a model is produced and tested.

Main Goal

The course provides wide insight into the aerodynamical and electrotechnical design of a wind turbine.

Skills to be Gained

Modelling aerodynamics and experimental verification.
