DigiWind NTNU Open Call
The DigiWind NTNU Open Call offers students an international placement in Trondheim (Norway) to develop digital skills in wind and energy systems. Up to 18 selected candidates will receive a EUR 6,940 stipend to cover living and subsistence costs during a six-month exchange. This scholarship provides the financial support needed to gain hands-on experience in the digitalisation of sustainable energy at a leading institution.

PROGRAMME START
Who Can Apply?
- Student status: Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) at a university with an active NTNU exchange agreement.
- Academic background: Must hold a B.Sc. in Engineering, B.Eng., or B.Sc. in Natural Science with a relevant background for M.Sc. Electric Power Engineering or M. Sc. Marine Technology.
- Nationality: Must be a passport holder from an EU/EEA country, or be a passport holder from a Digital Europe Programme (DEP) associated country.
- English proficiency: Official score report required (exempt for native speakers):
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 or higher
- TOEFL iBT: 88 or higher
- Cambridge C1/C2: 180 or higher
- Exchange: Must be available to participate in the Fall 2026 semester at NTNU.
Programme Overview
The call targets students who wish to participate in the placement students (exchange) programme at NTNU for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester.
DigiWind scholarships are available for students undertaking a 6-month study period at NTNU and enrolling in courses within the following eligible M.Sc. programmes:
Course selection requirements:
To fulfil DigiWind project requirements, applicants must select a total of 30 credits, typically equivalent to four (4) courses and comply with the following:
- Core DigiWind requirement: At least two (2) out of four (4) courses must be designated DigiWind courses.
- Specialisation requirement: At least one (1) additional course must be an Electric Power Engineering course. This can be either a designated DigiWind course or another NTNU course within the curriculum.
- Flexible choice: The final course may be freely selected, provided it aligns with the student’s home university credit transfer requirements.
Application Process
The DigiWind scholarship follows a two-stage process. Please note that while you are applying for a scholarship, your official university status will be Placement Student.
Selection and award
Application: Submit all required documents via the F6S platform during the open call period.
Evaluation: A selection committee will review your academic excellence and alignment with the program goals.
Notification: Successful applicants will be officially notified as DigiWind scholarship beneficiaries.
NTNU Enrolment
Official Invitation: Beneficiaries receive a formal invitation from NTNU to join as international placement students.
Administrative Support: The NTNU International Relations Office will contact you directly to guide you through the formal enrolment and registration steps.
Enrolement: Complete the necessary requirements under NTNU guidance to be officially recognised as an exchange student.

HOW TO APPLY
Step 1: Get Started on the F6S Platform
- Create your applicant profile on the F6S platform.
- Review the reference application form to familiarise yourself with the administrative questions. This document is for guidance only; your application must be completed directly on the F6S Platform.
- Optional: One live webinar will be held during the application period to provide guidance and answer questions. Details will be announced on the DigiWind website, social media and F6S Open Call page.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documentation
Gather and prepare all required supporting documents in PDF format. Ensure no printing restrictions are applied to your files.

Step 3: Complete and Submit Your Application
- Complete All Sections: Fill in all parts of the application form directly on the F6S platform.
- Upload Files: Ensure all mandatory documents listed are uploaded.
- Final Review: Thoroughly review your application before submission.
- Submit by deadline: Applications must be submitted no later than 1 May 2026 at 17:00 CET. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Evaluation
Evaluation Process:
- Eligibility Check
Applications will be screened against the eligibility criteria (Academic Background, Geographic Eligibility, English Language Competency, Application Submission and completeness, Required Documentation). Non-eligible proposals will receive a rejection letter. - Internal Evaluation
Eligible candidates will be evaluated by a panel of three Academics/Researchers at NTNU. - Selection
Scholarships are merit-based and granted after an offer from DigiWind and NTNU.
Evaluation Criteria:
Successful candidates must reach an evaluation threshold of 70%.
- 65%: Relevant qualification(s) (based on academic achievements at Bachelor’s level, university ranking, extracurricular research/publications, relevant work/teaching experience, awards).
- 25%: Positive mindset towards green-digital energy transition in Europe.
- 10%: Commitment to Diversity, Equality and Gender balance (voluntarily provided information on gender, age, socio-economic background will be positively considered).
Programme Enrolment
Scholarship Acceptance and Enrolment
To secure your DigiWind NTNU Scholarship, you’ll need to formally accept the offer via email and sign the Declaration of Honour within five (5) business days of receiving the email from the DigiWind Open Call team. The acceptance confirms your agreement to the academic and participation conditions designed to ensure your success in the programme. These conditions include:
- Completing your placement studies within 6 months.
- Adhering to the specified course requirements. See Guidelines for Applicants.
- Actively participating in student ambassador activities.
Registration of DigiWind students
When the students are selected, a list of successful applicants will be shared with the Unit for International Relations at NTNU. A manual registration application for each student will be done by the Unit in the nomination admission commonly used for regular incoming exchange students.
The following information will be required from each successful applicant:
- Name
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Citizenship
- Email address
- Home university (Active exchange agreement with NTNU)

Once students are registered, they will be asked to upload documentation and note which course they want to take in a comments field in the application. This process ensures NTNU has received all the information needed to be able to register the candidates as students at NTNU.
