Offshore Power Engineering

M.Sc - PG

3–6 Months

Masters of Science Programes

Course Overview

The course introduces the fundamentals of offshore power engineering, focusing on renewable energy sources and their integration into marine energy systems. Students learn about offshore wind power, marine hydro energy (wave, tidal, and current), solar energy applications, hydrogen as an energy carrier, and energy storage technologies. Emphasis is placed on transformation and transmission processes in complex ocean-engineering systems, including wind turbines, hydrogen production, fuel cells, and unconventional power systems. The course combines theoretical knowledge with case studies on offshore renewable energy technologies, highlighting both current applications and future developments.

Main Goal

To provide students with knowledge of offshore renewable energy technologies, their applications, and integration into marine energy systems, with emphasis on wind, water, solar, and hydrogen-based solutions.

Skills to be Gained

– Knowledge of offshore renewable energy sources (wind, wave, tidal, solar, hydrogen)
– Ability to analyze transformation and transmission processes in ocean energy systems
– Understanding of energy storage methods applicable in offshore systems
– Awareness of environmental and engineering challenges in offshore power applications
