Advanced Electrical Energy Conversion

M.Sc - PG

3–6 Months

Masters of Science Programes

Course Overview

The course provides students with advanced knowledge of electromechanical systems used in renewable energy applications, particularly wind power. It covers the structure and function of electromechanical systems (SE), including generating and drive systems, power electronic converters, and control algorithms. Students learn modelling and simulation techniques for electromechanical systems using CAD and energy-based approaches. Laboratory classes focus on practical analysis of machine sets used in wind energy, as well as interpretation and evaluation of simulation and experimental results.

Main Goal

To provide students with knowledge and practical skills in modelling, simulating, and analyzing electromechanical systems and power conversion technologies in renewable energy applications.

Skills to be Gained

– Ability to model and simulate electromechanical systems using CAD and energy-based approaches
– Skills in analyzing steady-state and transient behaviour of electrical machines
– Competence in interpreting and evaluating simulation and experimental results
– Knowledge of electromechanical components in renewable energy applications, particularly wind turbines
