The DigiWind project was a key presence at the EU Digital Skills Days from November 12-14 in Brussels, a major event that brought together the Advanced Digital Skills Summit, the Women in Digital Summit, and the European Digital Skills Awards Ceremony (EDSA 2025).
Project partner Andréia Santos from F6S proudly represented the DigiWind consortium on site, engaging with policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and researchers from across Europe to demonstrate the project’s vital contribution to the digital and green transition.
Connecting Skills with Europe’s Digital Decade Goals
The EU Digital Skills Days provided a unified platform to address Europe’s digital skills shortage and the critical need for greater gender balance in the technology sector (both core challenges that DigiWind is actively tackling).
At the dedicated booth, attendees learned how DigiWind is:
- Future-Proofing Careers: Developing Specialised Education Programmes (SEPs) to equip Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) professionals in the wind and energy systems sector with advanced digital skills in areas like High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity.
- Promoting Diversity: Actively working to narrow the digital skills and gender gaps in a traditionally male-dominated industry by promoting gender balance, age diversity, and social equality in its programs.
The event’s focus on the Women in Digital Index 2025 and strategies for building a truly connected and AI-ready workforce strongly echoed the mission of DigiWind. The discussions confirmed that projects like DigiWind, which integrate advanced technical skills with a focus on diversity, are essential for achieving the EU’s Digital Decade target of 20 million ICT specialists by 2030.
Celebrating Innovation and Collaboration
A highlight of the first day was the European Digital Skills Awards Ceremony (EDSA 2025), organized by the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform. The ceremony celebrated outstanding initiatives that are empowering people with essential digital competences across the EU.
“The energy at the EU Digital Skills Days was inspiring and it was an invaluable opportunity to connect with key stakeholders and demonstrate how DigiWind’s interdisciplinary education programmes are directly responding to the urgent skills needs of the renewable energy sector. Our presence here solidifies our commitment to driving innovation and fostering a diverse, highly-skilled digital workforce for Europe’s future.”
